72 hour combined Adult, Adolescent, Pediatric SANE, Child Abuse,and Domestic Violence Training

This course provides 72 - didactic contact hours, and an opportunity
to work in the increasing field of forensic nursing. This activity has been submitted to the IAFN for approval to award contact hours. The IAFN is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses   Credentialing Center’s Commission on   Accreditation. (8 hours of CE’s provided by Crisis Services of North Alabama, to include other aspects of Forensic Nursing; domestic violence and child/elder abuse.)

 

Crisis Services of North Alabama is a Board-approved provider of continuing nursing education in Alabama by the Alabama Board of Nursing. Our approval status is valid through March 18, 2020. Our provider number is nontransferable and utilized exclusively by Crisis Services of North Alabama.

Also offered after completion of the didactic component of your Combined SANE training and your preceptorship is a 2 day skills lab. The skills lab provides an additonal 16hours of CE credit. The cost is $489.00.  For those nurses who choose to work PRN for the Crisis Services Forensic Nursing Program this training will be offered free of charge.

A Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) is a registered nurse who has received advanced training and education in the forensic field of sexual assault. The SANE works as part of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). The multidisciplinary team includes law enforcement, advocates, attorneys and the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner.


The SANE completes a medico-legal examination, which includes the collection of forensic evidence from the client. The SANE is also an expert witness and may have to testify in court to the findings of the medico-legal examination.

 

Course Requirements:

  • An RN with two years experience.

  • You must attend the entire training, sign in each day and complete evaluations

  • After the training, each attendee will be required to complete clinical experiences in his or her own community.
